Becky Riley and her partner Eddie Tenberg earned the title of Champion of the sixth annual Dancing with the Stars Shasta County Style competition!  Riley, the Financial Administrator at Sierra Pacific Industries and Tenberg danced to the Carpenter’s Rainbow Connection in a waltz routine and a Cha Cha to the Clover’s Love Potion Number 9 to earn the title. Riley commented from the stage after receiving the top prize in a shower of confetti, “I am thrilled and humbly pleased to be the Grand Champion of Dancing with The Stars, Shasta County Style. It has been a wonderful experience and very rewarding to have raised $57,950, an amount large enough to truly make a difference.  I would like to thank the Emmerson’s and the Sierra Pacific family of employees who have contributed and worked tirelessly toward this effort. I am very appreciative of the many community members who stepped forward with their contributions, ideas and help.   It’s clear that many share my view that Shasta Woman’s Refuge is a very worthy cause.”  dancing-with-the-stars.jpg

On July 7th at the Cascade Theatre Dancing with the Stars Shasta County Style was held to benefit the life saving service of Shasta Women’s Refuge (SWR). Approximately 850 people turned out to support the Refuge’s sixth annual competition. The event was an unprecedented win for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault as $101,498 was raised to support the Refuge’s life saving programs, according to Fund Development Director, Kristi Hanson.
Eddie Tenberg, Becky’s professional dance partner commented, “This is wonderful and it is all because of Becky’s hard work and dedication.”

The audience weighed in by the purchase of voting tickets; twelve tickets could be purchased for $10. During intermissions, guests stuffed hundreds of tickets in voting canisters for their favorite couple.
Kathy Babcock accompanied by Dancing with the Stars Alumni and professional dancers opened the show with a beautiful free style Broadway routine. After less than three weeks of scheduled practice, the stars enthusiastically danced the quick step or waltz and a free style routine.
