This week at Shasta Arts Council

2011 High School Juried Art Competition
On the walls this month is our 12th Annual High School Art Competition. We look forward to showcasing high school artists and the Art programs they participate in every year.
This year students from thirteen schools are participating. Nearly 400 entries from Shasta, Enterprise, Anderson New Technology, West Valley,  Central Valley, Foothill, and other Northstate High Schools will be juried by Michael Karns. Michael has worked in the art field for 22 years.  He has a BFA in Graphic Design/Illustration.  He has worked with Sony Playstation, Macromedia, Bravo Advertising and was the lead designer for Shasta wear for 10 years.
Compensatory rewards will be given to the Best of Show, Excellence and Merit awards and a SCAC Choice award. The purpose of the exhibit is to select a body of work which best represents the finest examples artwork in Shasta County High Schools. The exhibit will be on display from March 18th through April 16th. The hours the gallery is open are Tuesday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM and Saturday from 11AM to 3PM.
There will be an Awards Reception on Saturday, April 9th from 6PM to 9PM. Awards presentation: 6:30PM

Steve’s musical career has covered miles and years, garnered awards, produced original songs that stand the test of time. A Texas native, Spurgin’s rural heritage and folk roots influence his varied and impressive tapestry of Americana.
