Forest Service seeks volunteers for Operation Christmas Tree

In 2004, the Shasta-Trinity NF launched Operation Christmas Tree, designed to provide an outdoor Christmas experience for at-risk, underprivileged and foster care youth ages 7 to 15 years old in communities near the Shasta-Trinity NF.
This year the event will target children 12 and under. The main emphasis for the event will be to promote youth outdoors with a festive holiday theme.
Highlights of the day include: a hike, visiting with a forester; picking-out a Christmas tree, , Smokey Bear presentations and natural-forest related arts and crafts.

The sign-up list is open to volunteers, Forest Service or not. We are not limiting any volunteer space! If you can be at the event that day or not, we can use the help.
We are also looking for activities for the bus ride to and from the event site (site TBD).
IF you can be a team leader for an action item you sign up for, please contact Melissa Jackson majackson@fs.fed.us or 226-2320. She can provide you with a description for that activity.
Please contact Rita Vollmer, 226-2595 with any questions.
We want this to be a fun and entertaining day! Thanks for your help.
