The Redding Air Show

The Exchange Club of Redding’s Air Show 2009 is the place to look.The Blue Angels, the world’s No. 1 jet demo team, and the Golden Knights, the top parachute team, highlight this year’s show, which will be held Sept. 26-27 at the Redding Municipal Airport.

The Pacific Prowler, a Mitchell B-25 the plane made famous by the Doolittle raid on Tokyo in 1942, will be on display and will fly in the show. It is sponsored by the Disabled American Veterans, who will be reaching out to vets as well.

The Air Force’s F-16 Fighting Falcon will perform an aerial dynamic demonstration. The high performance jet will return for a Heritage Flight paired with a WWII P-40 Warhawk, the plane made famous by the Flying Tigers in China.

A Hellcat F6F-5 and Japanese Zero, one of only three flyable Zeroes in the world, will be performing both days. Julie Clark, one of the best air show performers in the business, returns after more than a decade in her Chevron Mentor T-34. Eddie Andreini will be back, flying his Yak 9 and Super Stearman PT-13D biplane with his famed inverted ribbon cut. John Collver will be on hand as well, flying “War Dog,” his classic North American AT-6/SNJ Texan. Steve Stavrakakis, a former performer, will return to announce the show.2007-ba_20.jpg

The 452 Air Mobility Wing at March AFB has confirmed that one of its C-17 Globemasters will be on static display depending on operational considerations.

The Flight Deck is the perfect way to enjoy Air Show 2009. The semi-exclusive area offers frontline seating and viewing - just about the best seat at the show. As they say on late night TV, “Wait there’s more…” In addition to great seats, Flight Deck offers food and beverages throughout the show catered by the Sons of Italy.

Flight Deck tickets are $95 each or 10 for $700. Children 6-11 are $25.

The Exchange Club of Redding’s donations to area charities, churches, non-profits, youth groups and volunteer organizations over the past 24 years have totaled more than $900,000.
