Fires Roar across the North State
![]() |
One eventful day in June, over 700 woodland fires were ignited by a rare series of thunder and lightening storms that spilled across the north state. On Saturday, June 21, a freak summer storm brought rain, thunder and lightening to the the surrounding Redding area and northern California. Many homes have been lost and many families evacuated from their homes as the fires raged uncontrolled for days. One week later, many of the fires have grown and are mostly uncontained due to the large number of fires and limited manpower. Fire crews, equipment and volunteers from all over the western United States have swarmed to Northern California in an effort to gain control of the blazes. Local resources are being taxed as communities struggle to cope with the catastrophe. |
